| Outcomes: | The Outcomes we hope to reach are defined in our Vision 2015 Goals:
1. Reduce age-adjusted cancer deaths by 50%
· Early Detection: Cancer of the breast, prostate and colon are all easily detected early when proper health-screening technques are employed Fear and anxiety about early detection methods such as mammography continue to be a significant obstacle to cancer control. We are working to reach those least likely to practice early detection such as minority populations and the medically underserved.
· Effective treatment: Accessing effective treatment depends on the patient being well informed about treatment options, and physicians who are knowledgeable about state-of-the-art treatment advances. Through our toll free number we are able to provide this information to all patients.
2. Reduce cancer incidence by 25%
· Prevention: nearly two-thirds of all cancers are related to unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as tobacco and alcohol use, poor nutrition and lack of physical exercise. Much of our work is with children to help them develop healthy lifestyles.
3. Measurable improvement in the quality of life of cancer patients and their families
· Support services: Some patients are not able to access treatment due to their illness, or lack of funds or transportation. Their isolation drastically reduces their chance of recovery and quality of life. We serve any patient with the programs and services listed above.
· Quality of Life: Cancer patients and their families depend on social and emotional support to better handle the effects of cancer, such as pain, physical
