Charity Description
Mission: The mission of Art from the Streets is to provide a safe and encouraging environment in which the positive spirit of homeless people is nurtured through artistic expression in drawing, painting and ceramics, and to exhibit and sell the resulting works at the annual Art from the Streets show and sale.
Program or Service: Art from the Streets offers the following to chronic homeless adults who use Austin's homeless day shelter:
* Twice weekly free art classes (materials supplied)
* Annual show and sale, exhibiting art created by class participants with nearly all proceeds going to the homeless artistis.
Outcomes: Number of artists participating in classes annually: 150
Number of artists participating in annual show and sale: 100
Number of persons attending annual show and sale: 1,700
Sales proceeds from art works purchased: $48,000 in 2002.
Events Hosted: Annual Art from the Streets Show and Sale (November)
