| Mission | Austin's oldest community band brings free public performances of great concert band literature to the Austin area and provides an ensemble for Austin area musicians who want to pursue music performance as a hobby. |
| Program or Service | ACWE was formed in 1975. Our 65 volunteer musicians come from all walks of life, such as music professionals, engineers, educators, public employees, students, and retired persons. |
| Outcomes | Because admission to our performances is always free, we reach audiences who might not otherwise be exposed to live concert performances. In 1999, we estimate our concert attendance at 1400 people. In 2000, we estimate we will reach 5000 people. |
| Events Hosted | ACWE performs more than 10 concerts per year. About half of these are in conjunction with other community events, such as the Feast of Sharing and the Zilker Park Christmas tree lighting. The remainder are concerts generally held at area school auditoriums. |
