It is sponsored in cooperation with the Austin Independent School District. Project WISE offers students the opportunity to work with practicing, published writers. Authors and writers share their unique knowledge and experience which involve the creative writing process. AWLs summer writing camps are held in different locations in various neighborhoods and are available to students all over Austin. Scholarships are offered to college students through the Bess Whitehead Scott Fund and to high school students through the Young Texas Writers Scholarship Awards for ninth through twelfth graders.
Other on-going programs include the Texas Literary Initiative in cooperation with the Texas Commission for the Arts which offers honoraria, subgrants, and fellowships to writers and organizations.
