| Mission: | Down Home Ranch is a working farm and ranch for people with mental handicaps such as Down syndrome. |
| Program or Service: | Residency Program with eight (8) current Ranchers (residents), growing to 25 in the next few years. We also served 250 Ranch Campers this year and will serve 300 or more in 2005. |
| Outcomes: | Residents cease being passive consumers of services and become active contributors when they move to and begin helping run Down Home Ranch.They mature, become more independent, capable and confident. They learn new skills, make new friends, become much more active in the larger community. Campers too grow and mature, with many asking to be considered for residency. Some learn basics while at Ranch Camp, e.g. tying one's shoes, learning to swim, etc. It's fun and fellowship at camp but also development and maturation. |
