| Mission: | To provide high quality affordable housing where families have oppurtunities to imporve their lives and pursue their dreams. |
| Program or Service: | In addition to supplying safe, attractive, and affordable places to live, Foundation Communitites offers educational and matched savings IDA account programs, assisting residents in the purchase of their first homes. Educational courses are also set up to provide children with the tools they need to attain the education they desire. |
| Outcomes: | In 1999, Foundation COmmunities was one of the three organizations in the entire country awarded the Metropolitan Life Foundation Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing. Each of the past two years, Foundation Communities properties have been named "Best Affordable Housing Apartment Complex" by the Austin Apartment Association. Our residents currently hold 300 IDAs. 15 Account holders have graduated from the program by purchasing homes, 4 families have established or expanded small businesses, and 18 others have made qualifying withdrawls to cover college tuition. |
