| Mission: | The mission of Liv in the Game is to facilitate girls' life long achievement through physical activity and sport. |
| Program or Service: | One-to-one mentoring relationships between fifth grade girls and successful everyday athletes.
Community events designed to reach 100 girls from underserved areas in Austin.
An educational curriculum that will make the skills and values of sport explicit and transferable to life. |
| Outcomes: | The program objectives are to prevent high risk behaviors; create the confidence, skills, and health that lead to personal power; achieve short and long term individual and team goals; and sustain life long health and achievement.
Our 20 program candidates have been chosen from two pilot schools, Zilker and Metz Elementary Schools, Austin Independant School District. These focus candidates are recommended by PE teachers, counselors and their parents, demonstrate an interest in sports at some level but are in need of extra support.
Our community events, one held in the fall and one in the spring, recruit 100 girls each from underserved areas and populations in Austin.
