Program or Service:
1. Teaching web design at underprivileged middle schools
2. Building tutoring programs for all MIS majors
3. Providing additional manpower to MSIS departmental activities
Outcomes:
45 Mendez middle school students:
· Gain new role models and mentors in the field of technology
· Get an introduction to technology & HTML authoring - a stepping stone to a professional skill set that is in strong demand
UT-MIS students:
· Apply what they learn in the classroom
· Improve technology and communication skills
· Serve as role models to Austin youths
· Build relationships with IT professionals with similar service-oriented goals
· Receive tutoring from fellow UT-MIS students
Industry professionals:
· Get involved in the Austin community while leveraging professional expertise
· Serve as role models to Austin youth
· Build relationships with UT-MIS students with similar service-minded goals and ideals
University of Texas:
· Gain positive publicity for reaching out to the community
· Receive revenue from fundraisers organized by MIS Connex
