| Mission: | The mission of the Sustainable Food Center (SFC)
is to strengthen personal and community food security--
through access to affordable, nutritious and satisfying food
derived from non-emergency sources
and produced through sustainable means.

The Sustainable Food Center conducts four inter-disciplinary, cornerstone services—growing food, Community and Youth Gardens Program; marketing food, Farmers’ Market Program; 3.) cooking for nutrition, The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre Program; and 4.) sustainable food systems, Policy Program—to promote food security in concrete ways.
The Sustainable Food Center serves low-income families who are at-risk for hunger, malnutrition and diet-related diseases such as diabetes, obesity and heart disease. More than 75% of clients served are minority. |
