| Mission: | The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. |
| Program or Service: | The Salvation Army provides five categories of services based on need:
PATHWAYS PROGRAM-(Emergency Services)- includes short-term emergency and basic living services for people who are homeless and near-homeless.
PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (short-term, self-sufficiency services)-includes transitiona shelter and supportive services for homeless individual and families working toward self-sufficiency.
SPECIALIZED SUPPORT SERVICES-Programs for clients with special needs,ie. family therapeutic program,children center, MHMR Access,Trauma Support Group, Substance Abuse counseling...
PASSAGES PROGRAM(long-term,self-sufficiency services)-includes comprehensive case management and supportive services for homeless families and single adults.
HOME SWEET HOME PROGRAM- homeless prevention program.
Additionaly, The Salvation Army provides youth and senior out-reach programs, holiday assistance programs, summer camp, mens rehabilitation program, youth sports programs, employment services, sick bay for men and women, prison ministry, visitation to shut-ins, hospitals and nursing homes, emergency disaster relief, volunteer opportunities and worship services. |

*69% of Passages clients acquired housing
*86% of Passages clients who obtained housing sere also employed
*71% of Home Sweet Home clients did not become homeless
*61% of Passages clients housed also decreased dependence of public assistance
72% of Passages and Home sweet Home clients established monthly budgets
68% of Passages clients achieved major goals as a result of counseling for substance abuse or mental health problems.
*23,766 received holiday assitance, including 6,334 children
*3,158 individuals were assisted through Disaster Services
*2,386 child care days provided to homeless children in 1999
*246,974 meals served in 1999
