Charity Description
Mission: ACCION Texas is dedicated to providing credit and other services to low- and moderate-income small business owners who do not have access to commercial loans. By encouraging the economic self-reliance of "micro" entrepreneurs, ACCION Texas helps stabilize and increase incomes and alleviate poverty throughout the state. At ACCION Texas, we believe that investing in entrepreneurs strengthens our economy and builds a better community. Regardless of gender, race, or income, everyone deserves a chance to fullfill a dream.
Program or Service: - Small business loans
- Training and consultation in areas such as financial literacy, bookkeeping, cash-flow management, credit repair, marketing, business plans

Outcomes: A recent study conducted by graduate students from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin found that ACCION Texas borrowers created more than 200 full- and part-time jobs in their communities. Of the clients included in the study who were receiving public assistance when they first came to ACCION Texas, over half were no longer receiving public assistance after their first loan. AT clients saw a 31 percent increase in monthly profits by the end of their second loan and a 67 percent increase by the end of their third loan. The study found that after four loans business owners had experienced a 39 percent increase in equity.
