| Mission: | The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank is to feed the hungry by providing food and grocery products to human service agencies serving people in need in Central Texas. |
| Program or Service: | CAFB is one of a national network of food banks, called Second Harvest. We warehouse food provided by local and national donors, which we provide to our member agencies who serve the hungry and/or food-insecure population of Central Texas. |
| Outcomes: | In 1999 CAFB distributed 8 million pounds of food; established three Kids Cafe sites (with more to come in 2000); and worked with more than 300 member agencies to provide food to 21 Central Texas counties. |
| Events Hosted: | Annual Mother's Day Sort-A-Thon; beneficiaries of annual Bob Marley Festival, Antone's Bluesfest, Empty Bowls Project, and other events. |
| How to Donate: | Financial donations may be made by check or credit card to CAFB, 8201 S. Congress, Austin 78745. Credit card donations may also be made by phone. Donations of food are accepted by many area grocery stores (call first), at our warehouse on S. Congress, or large donations may be picked up by prior arrangement. |
